Washable nappies have come a long way in recent years, and are available in all shapes and sizes, so there will be something to suit you, your baby, and your budget. However sometimes the wide range of reusable nappies out there seems overwhelming, and can make it difficult to decide which cloth nappy is best for you. You either have to take a leap of faith (having read through all the literature you can find, of course!); or you need to buy a series of sample nappies (or "trial" sets), which is time consuming and expensive, and requires you to track down a range of manufacturers. In order to help you make a decision about which washable nappy is best for you, I am pleased to be able to offer a wide range of sample cloth nappies, which I will hire out for up to 2 weeks for you to try on your baby in your own home - try before you buy!
What is the Plush Pants Free Cloth Nappy Trial Scheme? In a nutshell, it's a "try before you buy" scheme for reusable nappies. Our cloth nappy trial or hire scheme is a selection of nappies, washed and used, guaranteed clean and hygienic, which you borrow from me and use in your own home. You get to design the nappy trial kit yourself, so that it contains all the products you are most interested in, and you can borrow as many different washable nappies as you'd like for a minimum of one week, and a maximum of two weeks, but please could you also restrict yourself to a maximum of two of any particular kind of cloth nappy - this means there are sufficient nappies available for everyone most of the time! During your trial period, you can use the cloth nappies on your baby and wash them in your own home. Please note that, if demand for the free nappy trial scheme is high, there may be a short wait before I can send you the cloth nappies you want to try. It may be best to mail me first to check on availability, click here to mail me first to check on availability. If you are pregnant, I recommend that you book the nappy trial in advance, and then get in touch once the baby arrives and you want to get started.
How does it work? It is quite straightforward! Simply look at the list below and choose which cloth nappies and wraps you would like to try (if unsure of sizes, please provide your baby's weight). Then follow these steps:
Once you've returned your real nappy trial set, you have a choice. If you decide to make a purchase from Plush Pants, I will give you a credit equivalent to the deposit you sent me, (less the postage charge if applicable). In other words the trial is free! If you decide not to make a purchase from Plush Pants, just let me know and I will refund you the deposit you sent me, less the hire charge. The p&p element is non-refundable. Example You try (for one week):
You would pay £63.10 (£57.10 deposit plus £6.00 p&p - unless you live locally and can collect the kit in person) and I would send you the nappies and wraps you have selected. At the end of the week, you return the nappies and wraps to me. If you decide not to buy anything further from Plush Pants, then I would send you a cheque for £49.10 (deposit of £57.10, less hire charge of £1 per item per week, a total charge of £8.00). If you decide to place an order with Plush Pants, then I will give you a discount of £57.10 from the total of your purchase (provided your purchase amounts to more than £57.10!). Therefore the nappy trial is effectively free! Please note that if your order value is substantially less than your deposit, you may still be liable for hire charges, and refunds will be at our discretion. Using the above example with a deposit of £57.10, if you placed an order for £15 worth of goods, you could expect to also be charged for the trial. If your order came to £55, I would not usually charge for the trial.
Available to hire: Please note that, although I have terry squares and prefolds available to hire, I would recommend buying one or two of each to try, as this is more cost-effective. To hire a terry square for 2 weeks will cost £2.00 - to buy one will cost from £1.70 and, even if you don't like it as a nappy it makes a lovely baby bath towel or a Mummy face cloth (or a car polishing rag, duster, general mopping up cloth)! I have tried to list the products by manufacturer, to make it easier for you to find the items you are interested in. Nearly every nappy and wrap we sell is available to hire.
