| REDUCED TO CLEAR - limited stock, small size only, fits up to around 18lbs The popular British made Nature Babies Stuffable pocket nappy!
The Stuffable Nappy is actually a wrap, strictly speaking, but cleverly combines all the convenience of a disposable (only one piece; when it's on, it's done!) with separate components, so it's easy to wash and quicker to dry - like a traditional two-part system.
The outer of the nappy is made from soft, laminated polyester, with poppers on the tummy to adjust the size (very like the Nature Babies wraps). It fastens with two rows of poppers, 'hugging' across the baby's tummy. There is a really good range of adjustment widthways and the adjustable sizing means even long babies will benefit from good coverage. The inner part of the nappy is soft microfleece. This will help to keep baby's bottom dry. Somewhat counter-intuitively, and much more important than dryness, fleece will also serve to keep your baby's bottom cooler - this is because it works by a process of evaporation which, obviously, has a cooling effect.
The nappy has gusseted legs with gentle, bound elastication which means that in tests it has been an efficient poo catcher. The other benefit of gussets is that it allows the nappy to be a bit narrower across the crotch - although to some extent this will depend on what you stuff it with.
So, between the polyester layer and the fleece layer is - well, nothing. But the two layers make a generously sized pocket which you can stuff with your absorbent material of choice. The pocket is ideal for a prefold or a pad-folded terry nappy, but will also take a fitted nappy quite well. The Nature Babies Supa Booster is a good option. You can use the Inserts described elsewhere in this section, however they are more suited to the shape of the original stuffable. In extremis it will also hold a tea towel or even a spare pair of cotton sports socks (it's true: I've known it happen!). Anything cotton will be absorbent and can be used to stuff this nappy! The only thing to be cautious about is that you don't over stuff the nappy - too much stuffing will cause it to pull away from baby's legs which will result in leaks! Because the fit is so important, I'd advise buying one to try before you commit to a larger purchase of this nappy.
Of course, the benefit of this nappy being made so close to home is that it's very much more reasonably priced than comparable systems, which really makes it ideal to have at the very least as a stand-by for babysitters/child care scenarios.
The Stuffable can be washed at 60 deg. though 40 deg. is preferable and will prolong its life. It can also be tumble dried on a low setting, but again air drying will be better for it. Because it's a polyester product it will dry in a very short amount of time.
The small size will now fit from around 8-18lbs, while the medium is suitable from 18-40lbs.
